Keeping an Eye on Your Data Center is a Snap with these Tools

In this week’s Instor partner product spotlight, we take a look at some of the tools that are making data centers smarter and easier to manage from a distance.

A Look at Remote Monitoring and Management Products from our Partners

Just as we’ve seen the rise of products that make your home safer (and smarter), such as Ring doorbells, Nest thermostats and others, the data center is also getting smarter and easier to manage from a remote location. Not only do monitoring tools give you a distinct advantage over the competition, they help boost your overall efficiency and help cut down on unplanned downtime.

The foundation of any good data center is the selection of proper intelligent Rack Power Distribution Units (rPDUs), but that’s no longer enough. In order to maximize the potential of your power units, you’ll need software that keeps tabs on these rPDUs while giving you the ability to remotely control them. The right software will also help you look out for leaks, give you KVM over IP ability and more.

At Instor, we feel strongly about our vendor-agnostic approach to products. It means we help you select the products that are the best fit for your current and future needs, rather than pushing products that aren’t the best match.

Here’s a look at a few of the products that can help get you on the road to success:

Environmental Monitoring: Ever wanted to see what the temperature and humidity levels were in a certain portion of your data center, even when it’s the middle of the night and you’re already home? Our partners at RLE Technologies create tools to help you do just that. Monitor airflow and moisture in an effort to remain efficient and operational at all times with RLE’s products.

Power Management: We’ve teamed up with Raritan and Server Technology to deliver their Power IQ DCIM Monitoring and Sentry Power Manager tools, respectively. With these tools in your data center, you’ll see circuit load status, get complete environmental data, predict power and cooling based on past trends and set up custom alerts. You can also customize these apps to create your own dashboard to view real-time power load, capacity and more.

DCIM: If monitoring branch circuits and rack power strips is on your radar, check out the Data Center Infrastructure Management solutions from our partners at Sunbird and Nlyte.

Asset Tracking: Data and real-time stats are wonderful, but don’t forget about your data center’s valuable IT equipment. Know exactly where a particular component is thanks to wireless sensors from RFCode’s CenterScape asset tracking platform.

Other tools: We also team up with vendors to help track fluid leaks as well as failures caused by CRAC, weather, water, heat and more. And, if you’re looking for KVM over IP, we can help with that, as well.
